Water Cremation

What Is Water Cremation?

Water cremation — also known as alkaline hydrolysis, bio-cremation, or aquamation — is a gentle alternative to traditional flame cremation. Instead of fire, the process uses a natural combination of water, gentle heat, and alkalinity to return the body to its most basic elements, the same way that occurs naturally over time, simply accelerated.

At the end of the process, families receive the same kind of remains as traditional cremation which can be kept, scattered, or buried, just as you would with any cremated remains.

We're proud to offer water cremation locally.

Why Families Choose Water Cremation

Gentler process. Many families are drawn to water cremation because it avoids the use of flame and direct heat, and uses significantly less energy than traditional cremation.

Lower environmental impact. The process uses no fossil fuels and releases no direct emissions, making it more environmentally friendly than traditional flame cremation.

Familiar outcome. If you're drawn to cremation but want a process that treats your loved one more gently, water cremation offers the same end result — cremated remains — through a different, softer method.

How the Process Works

A gentle beginning. Your loved one is placed in a specialized vessel, cared for with the same dignity and respect as any other service we provide.

The natural process. A solution of water and alkali gently accelerates the same natural breakdown that would otherwise take place over time in the earth, using warmth rather than flame.

Return of remains. What remains afterward are the same remains left by traditional cremation.

What you keep. These remains can be kept in an urn, scattered in a meaningful place, buried, or memorialized in whatever way feels right for your family.

A Simple, Honest Choice

Water cremation isn't the right fit for every family — and that's okay. Some people are drawn to it for its gentleness, others for its lower environmental impact, and others simply because it feels like the right choice for someone they love. Whatever your reason, we're happy to walk you through it without any pressure.
